Exceptional Research Opportunities Program (EXROP)

Initiated in 2003, the Exceptional Research Opportunities Program (EXROP) links the resources of HHMI’s Science and Grants programs to provide selected undergraduate students with outstanding summer research experiences that encourage them to pursue careers in academic science.

EXROP students also attend meetings at HHMI headquarters where they present their research in a poster session, network with their peers and HHMI scientists, and hear from scientists from various backgrounds and stages in their careers.

Students are nominated for the program by HHMI professors and directors of HHMI-funded undergraduate programs at colleges and universities. EXROP then matches the students with HHMI scientists who have volunteered to provide mentored research experiences.

CCAS is now soliciting applications from students for Research Enhancement Awards, funded through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Please click on the link below for more information and an application.

• Research Enhancement Awards - Student researchers can apply for these awards to expand their research experiences: awards will be given to present research at national conferences, to work in labs of collaborators at other institutions, and to extend URSI projects into the academic year. Priority will be given to projects that extend beyond one semester or summer, to projects that increase the likelihood of fruitful completion and ultimately publication, to projects that expose students to new research environments or new opportunities to do science, and to projects that involve interdisciplinary interactions.
